A Postpartum doula is a trained support person who takes care of the parents and new baby during the transitional phase after the baby is born, often called “The Fourth Trimester.” Our goal is to help maintain/establish a family balance, focused on meeting the needs of all the members of your family. They provide informational support in diapering, feeding, and sleep habits, physical support in caring for the baby, washing bottles/pump parts, and emotional support with a listening ear, validation, and plenty of care.

A newborn care specialist is a nanny qualified to take care of your newborn! Often staying in your home overnight to wake up with the baby, and caring for their needs so that you can get the rest you need to recover from your delivery. They fill many of the same roles as a postpartum doula; with more of a focus on the baby.

Awake care is a form of overnight newborn care, where the Newborn Care Specialist/Postpartum doula is awake for 100% of their shift. It costs extra because this is incredibly taxing on the provider. I do offer awake overnight care for +$10/hr because some babies may need a closer watch.

A Certified Infant Massage Instructor is a person certified by the International Loving Touch Foundation to provide education to parents and other caregivers on infant massage. We teach the Loving Touch method, which is strongly focused on bonding between parent and infant, and the importance of touching your baby.

I teach parents how to work on their babies for three big reasons.
1) Being born is traumatic, and babies can’t “walk it off” yet. Massage helps babies with gas troubles, body tension, and the aches and pains they just can’t tell us about.
2) Newborns experience the world primarily through touch; introducing frequent loving touch early on helps newborns to build secure attachment to caregivers, and, when done as a part of a bedtime routine, helps babies to develop healthy sleeping habits!
3) It's really hard to be a new parent in the first couple months. Babies can’t tell you what they need, or what would help them. Infant massage helps you, the parent, to build confidence in handling your baby, and gives you a chance to develop a toolbelt full of skills to help with gas, constipation, over-tired crying, teething, and more! Studies also show that a parent massaging their infant reduces rates of postpartum depression significantly.
